Spring Season Club Information

Spring Season Club Information

15/7/2022

Fixtures

Fixtures are available for the first 5 rounds of NetSetGo and the first 4 rounds of 11U – Open.  If you or your coaches notice any issues with the fixture please contact us as early as possible.  It is a lot easier for coaches/players to look at just their team fixture and notice issues than us trying to check all teams/rounds – this may include an uneven spread of inside/outside games (sometimes unavoidable), team names being misspelt, unusual times etc.  Please don’t leave it until the last few weeks of the season to point out the issues!  Fixtures – Melbourne East Netball Association (menanetball.com.au)

Grading Timeline

For the Grading Timeline for Spring 2022 click here to view.  The Club committee collates the feedback from teams and sends their clubs information in time for grading as the turn-around time for grading is very short.  If it is not received by the due date and time it will be assumed you have no feedback for the Committee.

The Grading Feedback Template is available on our website via the following link: Resources – Melbourne East Netball Association (menanetball.com.au)

Amendment to Rules for Spring Season

The Club Competition Standing Committee agreed to continue with the exception to the rules in Autumn for Spring Season.  This is based around the proviso that clubs will not intentionally play fill-in players to alter the standard of the game in that given section and age group – as an example, don’t use a sec 1 goaler in sec 6 as a goaler.  Clubs need to ensure that these changes to the rules are not used for their teams to gain an advantage, they are designed to minimise forfeits and keep players playing.

  • Players may play up 5 (five) times in a higher age, grade or section,
  • Once they have played their 6th game they will be regarded as belonging to the team in which they played their 6th game for the remainder of the season (including finals) and can therefore no longer play in the lower age, grade or section,
  • They can only play in one team in the finals,
  • Players may fill in for the same age group in a lower section up to 2 (two) times to allow the team to play with 7 players i.e. they cannot be used as an 8th player.  Clubs must email MENA with details of team and player filling in for lower team so we have a record of this.  This email can be made prior to the game or just after (in the case of a last minute requirement).  This is not to ask permission just to keep us informed as we will be monitoring this.
  • Any requests for further exceptions to the rules should be made in writing to the Executive.

Coaches Code of Conduct and Working with Childrens Check

All new coaches are expected to agree to the Coaches Code of Conduct.  Please provide us with a list of your new coaches so we can let you know when they have completed it.

A reminder that you need to ensure all of your new coaches have a Working with Childrens Check and have your club registered as an organisation they work with.

Scoresheets

Scoresheets need to be completed correctly or players will not be allocated the game towards finals eligibility.  We would recommend that somebody in each team is responsible for ensuring this happens – possibly the coach or manager would be best placed to do this.  They just need to check the scoresheet at some point during the game to make sure it is being completed correctly.  Very detailed information on how to complete a scoresheet is available on our website via the following link: How to Score – Melbourne East Netball Association (menanetball.com.au) and is on the scoresheet clipboards.

Training Court Allocations

Please ensure your club lets MENA know if you are no longer using the training courts that have been allocated to your club as there are other teams looking for times.
