Keep Positive & Safe Environment
Fair Play Code
The Victorian Government’s new Fair Play Code – a code of conduct for sport and recreation in Victoria, outlines the standards of behaviour expected for everyone involved in sport and recreation.
The Fair Play Code sends a loud and clear message – that bad behaviour, violence, cheating and intimidation has no place in sport and recreation in our state.
At the heart of the code are the five core values that will lead to fair play for all – integrity – respect – responsibility – fairness – safety. Read more

Raising Concerns Respectfully
If you have concerns during a match:
- Who to Approach: Speak with the MENA Competition Coordinator or Umpire Supervisor for clarification.
- How to Identify Them: They wear blue/yellow MENA polos and blue vests.
- Where to Find Them: Near the courts or in the Competition Office.
Let’s keep our netball environment safe, fair, and respectful for everyone.
These logs help inform communication with Clubs and Social teams.
Clubs are then responsible for investigating the reported behaviour and taking appropriate action. Depending on the situation, actions taken have included suspensions, supervised games, written apologies, additional training, or re-signing the Code of Conduct.
Competition log vs Complaint
It is important to note the difference between a report that is submitted via the Competition Log and an official complaint where the Complainant provides their details.
• Competition Log Report – A report may be anonymous or named but does not necessarily have to go through an entire official grievance procedure. It will be accepted and kept on file and may be acted upon if deemed necessary. This option may be chosen if the Complainant wishes to remain anonymous or if no further action is wanted by the Complainant, but they wish to inform MENA about any undesirable or unacceptable behaviour, conduct or incidents.
• Complaint – An official complaint must go through the official grievance process, depending on which Policy is deemed to be the relevant one in the case (eg, Competition Regulations, Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy, Member Protection Policy etc). An official complaint means the Respondent (person the complaint is about) is entitled to know who the Complainant is, what the complaint is and they then have the right to reply, before an investigation takes place and a determination is decided upon, including potential sanctions, if appropriate.
