Photography & Filming

Effective 2 March 2026

As a condition of entry into the Melbourne East Netball Association (MENA) competition, participants may be photographed or filmed in accordance with the MENA Photography and Filming Policy. By entering the competition, consent is deemed to be provided for this purpose.

By registering a team in the competition via Netball Connect, the Club/Team Contact confirms that they will:

  • Inform all team members and parents/guardians (for participants under 18 years of age) of these conditions, and
  • Ensure they are aware of and agree to comply with the policy.

Exemptions

In special circumstances, an exemption may be granted. Teams or individuals seeking an exemption must submit a written request using the Exemption Request Form, clearly outlining the reason for the request. Requests should be emailed to Admin@menanetball.com.au

Where an exemption is granted under the policy, this information will be communicated to the Clubs in the Club Competition in the section. The Coaches and Team Managers registered in Netball Connect for the relevant section and game will be notified. For any game where a team includes a player with an approved photography exemption, photography & Filming will not be permitted to occur at that game.

Best Practice Recommendations

MENA recommends the following best practices:

  1. Clubs and teams should communicate the MENA Photography and Filming Policy to all players and parents/guardians to ensure awareness and understanding of the policy.
  2. Where a game is being filmed under this policy, it is best practice to:
  • Notify the opposition coach prior to filming, and
  • Ensure filming is conducted by an official or a person who holds a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC).
