Please take a few minutes to review the Live Scoring Quick guide  to become familiar with how to score using the Netball Connect app.

ON GAME DAY – iPad Collection & Return Procedure 

Collection of iPad: 
The first-named team is responsible for collecting the iPad: 

  • From the Competition Office if your game is in the first timeslot of the day. 
  • From the previous game’s scorer at courtside if your game is not the first of the day. 

 

Return of iPad: 
The first-named team is also responsible for handing over the iPad: 

  • To the next game’s scorer at courtside if there is another game on that court. 
  • To the Competition Office if your game is in the final timeslot of the day. 

⚠️ Do not leave the iPad unattended at the court. 

✅ The official score is the one recorded on the iPad. 
📸 Tip: Take a photo of the final score on the iPad as a backup.

Are there written instructions?

Is there a live scoring demo?

What happens if the iPad goes flat or freezes mid-game?
If the iPad isn’t working:

  1. Send someone to notify the Competition Office.
  2. Use the Game Day sheet (paper version) to continue scoring.
  3. A representative from both teams must bring the completed Game Day sheet to the Competition Office after the game.

Will there be helpers at the courts?
Yes. Helpers will be available to assist and will be wearing orange vests during Round 1.

 What if the iPad is offline?

  • Continue scoring on the iPad.
  • Tick all players who take the court under “Team Attendance”.
  • Confirm the match at the end.
  • If borrowing a player and the search isn’t working, record details on the Game Day Scoresheet.

What if we encounter other issues during the game?
After the game, both teams must report any issues or borrowed players to the Match day Staff at the Competition Office.

 Are printed scoresheets still used?
No. Live scoring will be completed only on the iPads.
Printed scoresheets will only be used as a backup when needed.

 How do I add players within 24 hours before a game?
You must be listed as a Team Manager or Coach in Netball Connect.

  1. Log in to the Netball Connect app.
  2. Click on the game.
  3. Select your team and mark player attendance.

How do I borrow a player if the iPad is offline?

  • Mark your Team Attendance.
  • Use the Game Day Sheet to record any borrowed players.
  • Report to the Competition Office after the game to confirm Team attendance players.

Will a Single Game Voucher (SGV) player appear in the attendance list?
Yes. You must add them in the Team Attendance list on the iPad.  Simply borrow the player in the Team Attendance page.

Who takes the first centre pass?

  • Home team/First Named takes the first centre pass.
  • Away team/Second Named chooses which end to shoot at.

Is the centre pass tracked in Live Scoring?
Yes. The iPad will automatically track centre passes.

What does a Team Manager or Coach need to do?
Up to 24 hours before the game, they must:

  • Log into the Netball Connect app.
  • Complete team attendance.

Do umpires need to approve the score before submission?
No. Umpires do not need to approve scores before the scorer clicks Confirm.

Do scorers need to be set up in Netball Connect?
No. Scorers use the MENA iPad provided at each court and do not need a personal login.

Who scores on the iPad and who uses the flip/electronic scoreboard?

  • Home team uses the iPad.
  • Away team uses the flip or electronic scoreboard.

Does the iPad control game time?
No. MENA competitions use Central Timing:

  • The official timer controls start, quarter breaks, and end times.
  • Umpires follow the central whistle, not the iPad.

Do we need to enter the scorer’s name?
No. The name of the scorer does not need to be entered.

How do I add a Team Manager or Coach to a team?

Can I use my own device to score?
No. You must use the MENA-provided iPad at the court.
